The British Academy of Photography has earned accreditation from the International Accreditation and Recognition Council (IARC). The IARC is a not-for-profit association. The council was founded in 1999 in response to increasing globalisation of world economies and societies, and is currently managed by an elected committee of six education practitioners and industry professionals.

Independently established in co-operation with the Secretary of State for Education for the public benefit in 1969, the ODLQC promotes lifelong learning and raises industry standards for distance education.
